Another Sex Offender Caught Volunteering with Children's Sports Program

Esmond Frazier, a registered sex offender, was caught on video volunteering at the Pine Forest Athletic Association park in Jacksonville, Florida at a youth football game.

Frazier possesses a criminal record of sex crimes in 2006 and lewd assault on a child in 2005. He admitted to having sex numerous times with a youth under the age of 15. At the time, he was an assistant volleyball coach and after-school tutor at Lee High School.

Frazier was placed on probation for 3 years and is required to register as a sex offender; however, during his probationary period, he was back on the field, volunteering at football games for youth.

The president of the youth football conference stated that they perform background checks on all volunteers supervising children. Because Frazier's volunteer position did not require the supervision of children, but rather holding chains, the school did not require a background check on him.

Regardless of the fact that Frazier was not supervising children directly, he was still in close contact with them and very soon after he was placed on probation. While the youth football conference did not state the reason for not running background checks on all of its employees, one hopes that this incident will lead to that result.

What is it going to take to put the slightest precautions in place to protect our children??

I know a good background company that could have checked out this guy. All we hear about are sex offenders. They're everywhere.

Children need to be protected. A simple background check could have avoided the embarrassment for the institution.

Parents, grandparents, and other friends and family need to be vigilant about checking up on school and sports volunteers and employees that may have an opportunity to interact with their children and young loved ones. Otherwise a lazy school is all it takes to create a situation that leads to statutory rape.

I wonder if the president of the youth football conference has any children. They seem so relaxed and make excuses for these sex offenders. We need to protect our children and stop giving these perverts so many chances to ruin children's lives.

Jeez, look at that menace. How can you not background check that guy based on looks alone. Seriously people, get with the picture.

Wow, I can't believe they allow a registered sex offender near children, it's Ludicrous.

Good grief. When will these organizations learn to run background checks on every person involved with the group regardless of their position? If they are working around kids, there should be a background check whether they are volunteers or employees.

It creeps me out that sex offenders are everywhere, and especially hearing that they are working so close with children. Yikes.

When it comes to childrens' safety all stops should be pulled out. When are these youth organizations going to put safety first?

it can be alarming to the parents of the children. knowing your child was on the field with a sex offender, they should strictly filter their staff even if it is not on the supervision still he has contact with the children.

yes i agree even he was a volunteer on that program they should strictly conduct background check on that person. He has done it for many times, and we should considered the safety of the children. If the admin already know that he has a court records why did they alow that person? Background checking can be done just for the sake of the children and to the reputation of that sports program. Who knows he might done it again.
